Total Parkinson's by Total Healthworks at the Y returns to the Greystone YMCA on January 30th, 2023. This program is open to the first 20 participants who meet the eligibility criteria. Below is some key information to help you determine if Total Parkinson's is the right fit for you.
WHO: YOU, if you have Parkinson's disease
WHAT: Total Parkinson's by Total Healthworks is a beneficial exercise program customized for individuals with Parkinson's. An established group of up to 20 participants will meet three times weekly with trained professionals who will lead comprehensive sessions focusing on balance, memory and cognition, posture, strength, and joint mobility.
WHEN: January 30th, 2023 - April 21st, 2023: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 12:30 pm - 1:15 pm
WHERE: Large Group Exercise Room - Greystone YMCA - 5414 US-280, Birmingham, AL 35242
HOW TO JOIN: Registration is required for this course. Candidates must sign and return a digital welcome packet with intake forms that can be completed at home. Once received, one of our specialized trainers will perform a brief in-person movement assessment with each candidate at the Greystone YMCA. All registration steps must be completed prior to January 30th, 2023 to successfully enroll in the program.
EXPECTATIONS: In order to receive the maximum positive outcomes from this program, full participation and consistent attendance from each participant is strongly encouraged. Dependably showing up not only provides each participant with the opportunity to receive an optimal experience, it serves to build community and support.
CONSIDERATIONS: Here are some basic guidelines we want to share with you. It is recommended that all participants have the following abilities:
Can get on and off of the floor with minimal assistance
Can walk unassisted or with device
Can sit and stand alone or with minimal assistance
