There are many support group opportunities throughout Alabama with new ones added often. You can choose to attend a support group in person if one is located near you, or you can choose to attend a virtual support group meeting over Zoom hosted by the PAA.

The PAA hosts two virtual support groups, one for those living with Parkinson's and one for care partners.
Living with PD Support Group

If you are living with Parkinson's, this support group is for you! Each month, we will discuss different topics and share tips and strategies for helping us to live our highest quality of life with Parkinson's.

Young Onset Parkinson's Network
YOPN members come together to learn, engage, and support one another. The Solo Network - Living Alone with Parkinson's?
The Parkinson's Foundation is proud to announce the PD Solo network. The goal of this network is to build a virtual community of support information for those who live solo while also living with Parkinson's; living solo doesn't mean being lonely or isolated. The PD Solo Network meets via zoom. Call Nancy Nealon at 1.585.743.1266 with questions. There are two sessions available each week at 12pm and 6:30 p.m., but future meeting times will be determined by participants. Learn more and register HERE.

In-Person Support Groups
Prior to attending your first support group meeting, we recommend that you email or call the support group facilitator to make sure the meeting is happening as scheduled and at the typical location. It also helps to talk to the facilitator and understand more about the dynamics of the group. Sometimes reservations are required based on the program, and other times the location may be moved. Calling ahead helps facilitators to plan appropriately and make sure you are on their list for future support group communications should there be any meeting or logistical change you need to know.
