COCKTAIL DINNER 2023

The Parkinson Association of Alabama hosted its 16th Annual PAA Cocktail Dinner on October 24 at the Country Club of Birmingham. The dinner benefits the Parkinson Association of Alabama Care Navigator Program & Pre-Doctoral Scholars in Parkinson’s Research at UAB. A harpist entertained the guests as they enjoyed the club’s finest four course meal while hearing from CCB Host and PAA Chair, Henry Ray, on the Parkinson Association of Alabama’s mission alongside UAB’s research.

 

The program guest, Dr. David Standaert, one of the nation’s leading Parkinson’s experts, provided the evening’s highlights and introduced 2022 Pre-Doctoral Scholar, Jhodi Webster and 2023 Pre-Doctoral Scholar, Charlotte Brzozowski for their Parkinson research updates. Proceeds from the 16th Annual PAA Cocktail Dinner go towards the research and efforts to find a cure to end Parkinson’s disease and improve the lives of those living with Parkinson’s.

COCKTAIL DINNER 2022

The Parkinson Association of Alabama hosted its 15th Pre-Doctoral Scholar Cocktail Dinner at OvenBird Restaurant on November 15, 2022. The Pre-Doctoral Scholar Cocktail Dinner raises money to fund Parkinson’s Disease research currently underway at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

 

Jhodi Webster is the 2022 Parkinson Association of Alabama Scholar. Jhodi is a PhD student who joined Dr. Ashley Harms' lab at UAB and she is focused on how the presence of aggregated alpha-synuclein, beta-amyloid and tau copathologies contribute to neuroinflammation in Parkinson's disease. She is passionate about this project because of its potential to elucidate new therapeutic avenues for the disease. With the completion of her predoctoral training, she hopes to contribute to translational research in targeting PD.
